Terms of sale & licence
Last updated: 19 October 2026
In short: you pay once and can use the scan for your own projects. You can't resell, share or upload the scan file itself. If something's wrong with a file, we'll put it right.
1. Who we are
Scan Foundry is a sole trader business based in New Zealand. You can contact us at [email protected]. When these terms say "we" or "us", they mean Scan Foundry. "You" means the person or business buying a scan.
2. Buying a scan
- Prices are shown in New Zealand dollars (NZD). Introductory prices may change, but the price you pay is the one shown when you buy.
- We're not registered for GST, so no GST is charged on our prices.
- Payment is handled securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- After payment, you'll get a download link for your scan. It works for 24 hours. If it runs out before you've downloaded the file, email us for a fresh one.
- Each scan comes as a zip file containing an OBJ 3D model, a 1-metre reference cube for checking scale, and a read-me.
3. Your licence: what you can do with a scan
When you buy a scan, you get a licence to use it. There's one price and one licence for everyone, whether you're buying personally or for a business.
You can:
- use the scan in your own projects: designing, engineering, prototyping and building, whether personal or for work;
- make and sell physical things you designed using the scan, such as a fit-out, parts or accessories;
- edit and convert the file for your own use, and keep backups;
- share images or renders of your own designs that include the scan.
You can't:
- sell, give away or share the scan file, or any edited or converted version of it, with anyone else;
- upload the scan file, or a version of it, to the internet, a file-sharing site or a 3D model marketplace;
- include the scan in a product that lets other people extract or reuse it, such as a downloadable 3D asset, game mod or template pack.
If your business buys a scan, the people working on your projects can use it, but it stays within your business. If you're unsure whether something is allowed, just ask us first.
We (Scan Foundry) keep ownership of the scan and the copyright in it. You're buying the right to use it as above, not the scan itself.
4. Accuracy
We work hard to make our scans accurate, and each one includes a 1-metre reference cube so you can check scale. Vehicles vary, though, even between the same model and year, through wear, repairs or factory changes. Before cutting or manufacturing anything where an exact fit matters, please check the key measurements against your own vehicle.
5. Faults and refunds
If a scan is faulty or doesn't match its description, we'll fix it, replace it or refund you. See our refund policy for the details. Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 always apply, and nothing in these terms limits them.
6. Breaking the licence
If you share or resell a scan against these terms, your licence to use it ends, and we may take steps to have copies removed and recover our losses.
7. Commissioned on-site scans
If you book us to scan a vehicle at your location, we'll confirm the price, what you'll receive, timing and any cancellation terms with you by email before the job. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, the licence in section 3 also applies to commissioned scans.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you buy is the one that applies to your purchase.
9. New Zealand law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
